Actively Shielded NMR at 800 MHz

Magnex is proud to announce that our SUPERSCREENEDTM technology has now been incorporated into the 800MHz 54 mm bore range of magnets. The reduced footprint of the magnet, combined with the magnet's low ceiling height requirements makes siting very straightforward.

The proprietary dual reservoir design ensures minimal cryogen consumption and exceptional thermal stability, even in the event of a power outage. During standard 48h "pumps-off" factory tests, the magnet typically warms up by <2mK during this period.

800MHz wide-bore (89mm)

The Magnex 800MHz wide bore (89mm) magnet system being delivered to Oxford University.

This magnet is one of the new generation "pumped" systems which operate at sub 4.2 Kelvin (the normal temperature of liquid helium at atmospheric pressure). By reducing the pressure in the helium bath the boiling point of helium is lowered to around 2.2 Kelvin. At this lower temperature the performance of the super conducting wire is enhanced.

This enabling technology makes it possible to manufacture magnets such as the 900MHz narrow bore system, and this, the worlds highest field wide bore system
